But on Dia de Los Muertos, you want to throw a party so epic that it actually does wake the dead. After all, the dead have been waiting all year for the holiday, so you'd better be in the celebration spirit, because you owe the deceased nothing less. 
 Of course, when the Day of the Dead holiday rolls around every year, it takes more than some spooky costumes to muster up the souls of the dead. There also needs to be their favorite foods, music, activities, and anything else they liked about being alive. Which totally makes sense, because what ghost is going to go through the trouble of returning to the land of the living for a party they will just be bored at?
